Local Wastewater
This shows weekly recent changes in covid levels in individual wastewater catchments.
Most recent week is 2024-12-01
Date in this table comes from COVID-19 Data Repository by the Institute of Environmental Science and Research at https://github.com/ESR-NZ/covid_in_wastewater
The place is the area covered by the wastewater catchment region.
The number for the week is the local reading for that week as a percentage of the average readings for the six months prior to the week in question for that wastewater catchment. So 100% would mean the week in question is exactly the same as the average of the last 6 months (generally a low amount since there have been no waves).
The background colours are: black means the week is in the lowest quarter of readings for the previous 6 months, purple is in the middle half of readings for the previous 6 months, fuchsia red is in the highest 25% of readings for the previous 6 months, and orange gold is above any readings in the last 6 months.
Small areas need to be aware that if a major event is bringing in lots of people at once, that can change the amount of covid (because there are more people) rather than the rate of infection among people. It takes local knowledge to know if such things are going on, so I leave that to the reader to judge.
The “Weeks tested in the last 6 months” column is the number of weeks prior to the most recent reading for which there are tests. Less tested areas can expect more variability.
